On Syed Kirmani
I met Kiri as he’s fondly called way back in 1975 during Ajit Wadekar’s team’s tour of Sri Lanka..
A very jovial, easy going but a very hardworking and sincere cricketer Kiri was a 100% team man.. What struck me immediately was his immaculate dress sense and the way he preserved his clothes and shoes for many years. The way he kept his cricketing attire was exemplary indeed. His shoes, pads, bat, gloves were beautifully maintained.
As a wicketkeeper, he was extraordinary, one of the tops in the business. His anticipation and gathering of deliveries down the leg side was faultless. Besides he was more than a handy and reliable batsman as he contributed immensely when it really mattered.. his contribution to Indian cricket is huge.. I am positive his autobiography would be a best seller as he has lots to say about his distinguished career.
All the best, Kiri..
